I just was shown
this, via a friend of mine.
It's a clip showing how much of Fox News' coverage is based on misconceptions, and it shows an interview with Coulter.
A quote from the interview on the flip.
COULTER: I mean Canada sent troops to Vietnam, was Vietnam less containable[...]
INTERVIEWER: No, actually Canada did not sent troops to Vietnam.
COULTER (confused): I don't think that's right...
INTERVIEWER: Canada did not send troops to Vietnam.
COULTER (bewildered): Indochina?
INTERVIEWER (rolling his eyes): No, no. Canada... Second World War, of course. Korea, yes. <COULTER (interjecting): I think you're wrong.> Vietnam? No, took a pass on Vietnam.
COULTER: I think you're wrong.
INTERVIEWER: No, Australia was there, not Canada.
COULTER: I think Canada sent troops.
INTERVIEWER (shaking his head): No.
COULTER: Well I'll get back to you on that
Wow. Is it just me, or is it always the Republicans who are ignorant or have misconceptions about obvious things?
Lets see some recent Republican wankers:
- Pete Coors, running for Colorado Senate, who didn't know who the Canadian Prime Minster was (and is now being considered for ambassadorship to Canada - I'm starting to think, after Bolton, Gonzales, keeping Rumsfeld, and this, that they are specifically trying to piss us off...)
- Fox News and its viewers, who think Saddam had WMDs, and he attacked us on 9/11.
- I'm sorry to say, my Republican dad believes we won Vietnam (the following is an exchange of e-mails):
DAD: South Viet Nam is a huge success story as is Iraq, so are you now favoring the Bush policy as a success?
ME: was that sarcastic, or did you just say the vietnam war was a success story?
DAD: Look at how South Vietnam has developed as a country since the war and how much of a progressive society they are compared to North Vietnam and yes in retrospect the war was a success. Yes at the time of the war it appeared nasty and as though we were losing but the result was a huge success
ME: wow youre CLUELESS. look at a map numbnuts. is there a south and north vietnam? no. because the communist north took over the whole thing a few years after we withdrew. a progressive society? where the did you read this bullshit? ann coulter?
- The final wanker, our Great Leader, George W. Bush:
From Bush's Second Inaugural Address:
From the day of our Founding, we have proclaimed that every man and woman on this earth has rights, and dignity, and matchless value, because they bear the image of the Maker of Heaven and earth. Across the generations we have proclaimed the imperative of self-government, because no one is fit to be a master, and no one deserves to be a slave. Advancing these ideals is the mission that created our Nation.
Bush, you fucking idiot, WE HAD SLAVERY WHEN THIS NATION WAS CREATED. In fact, it lasted many, many decades after. In fact, in case you haven't heard, we fought a fucking war over it.
These idiots never cease to amaze me.
